1 Corinthians 15:27b-28
Now when it says that "everything" has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all.
So what is the Father's purpose in subjecting everything to Jesus? It is for the Son to use His authority in three ways. First, to redeem people from every nation, dialect and culture in the world; second, to defeat the enemies of God; and finally to direct all glory back to the Father.
Philippians 2:9-11: "Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
In our passage today, Paul tells us that after Jesus has subdued all opposition, then He will subject Himself and all He has conquered to God the Father. When the last enemy is defeated, the victory won, and the church redeemed, the Lord Jesus Himself will turn to the Father and bow His head. God the Father is ultimately the final focus of all praise, honor and glory forever and ever!
To whom or what do you give praise, honor or glory? Is it to your intellect or physical ability? To self-discipline, work ethic, or education? We make a mistake if the glory goes anywhere except to God. He is the source of life. Do some of your attitudes need to be adjusted?
