2 Corinthians 6:1
As God’s co-workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain.
Not long ago, I spoke at a church in Costa Rica regarding my evangelism work in various countries. The pastor told the congregation I would be available for a workshop following the service for anyone who would like to develop their skill in this area. I was shocked to see forty-five people in attendance. What didn't surprise me was that the majority were under the age of thirty.
It seems young people have a great passion for sharing the Good News. In general, I think it is because the church is doing a much better job of educating young people regarding their responsibility and the joy that comes from this area of ministry. So how do we all become so enthusiastic that we can't wait to share the Gospel with everyone we meet? The key is understanding we are not only workers FOR God, but workers WITH God. It's why Paul used the term "God's co-workers". So God doesn't just wish us luck as He sends us on an assignment to love, serve and share His message -- He's with us each step of the way. Working right with us in the hearts and minds of everyone involved to fulfill His purposes. Knowing this truth has always given me great confidence in ministry.
The next time someone shares with you the heaviness of a particular situation, say, "Let me pray with you right now. Jesus is here with us and He will give you peace." How can we have that kind of confidence? James 4:8a: "Come near to God and he will come near to you." It's not might or perhaps -- He WILL come near to you. Do you trust Him? Will you step out in faith?
