“"A Life's Work"”

Thoughts for Today:

In our passage today, Paul shares with us his "life work" or "purpose". What is it? "To make plain to everyone..." The Message paraphrases verse 9 as follows: "My task is to bring out in the open and make plain what God, who created all this in the first place, has been doing in secret and behind the scenes all along."

I think Paul did a pretty incredible job of fulfilling the work God gave him to complete. His preaching and teaching ministry was very successful (see Romans, 1 and 2 Corinthians, Ephesians, etc.); his coaching, mentoring, and discipling ministry was second to none (Timothy, Titus, etc.); his leadership within the church body as a whole was insightful, Spirit-led, and monumentally effective (for example, see the Jerusalem council -- Acts 15:1-30); and finally, his writings have been canonized as Scripture -- which has gone far beyond his work as a pastor and preacher. For almost two thousand years, Paul's words (inspired by the Holy Spirit) have touched and moved millions of people -- much more than his personal ministry could have ever accomplished. His stated "life work" is being fulfilled even today in more ways than he could have ever imagined. Praise God for the servant heart and willingness of the Apostle Paul!

Questions to Ponder:

How is your divinely assigned "life work" coming? Still not sure what it is? When was the last time you asked the Lord for an assignment? God is always at work in the world around us, will you seek Him and join Him now? Take a small step today and then watch for the incredible power of God as He uses those who faithfully serve Him.
