Something To Read . . .

John 3:16 -18

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.”

Isaiah 48:18

“If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, your well-being like the waves of the sea. “

Something To Try For Yourself . . .

“One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, ‘Of all the commandments, which is the most important?’

‘The most important one,’ answered Jesus, ‘is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.’ “

Be ready to try reciting this scripture from memory at your next group (or online). For more help on memorizing scripture, see this video by John Piper or download an iPhone app.

Something To Pray About . . .

It's not easy to memorize things . . . even GREAT things. Pray that God will help you memorize it and put it into action in your life!

You may think that you are not good at memorizing Scripture, but you were actually wired by God to be able to do so. Psalm 119:13 says “With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth.”

One Last Thought . . .

Could it be that we don't have God's peace in our lives because we aren't connected to Him and obeying His commandments?

If you prayed to invite Jesus into your life for the first time in this lesson, we’d love for you to tell us about it. You can also connect with your group leader… we want to pray for your new walk with God and send you a small gift.
